Neuroborrelioosi ei ole harvinainen Amerikassakaan. Tri B. Fallonin mukaan borrelioosin kaikissa muodoissa ilmenee jonkinasteisia neurologisia oireita. (suom. huom. totesin saman asian vieraillessani amerikkalaisella klinikalla). Borreliabakteeri etenee kudoksissa tunnin aikana noin 2,5 - 5 cm. Parissa vuorokaudessa - eli ennenkuin vasta-aineiden tuotanto on kunnolla käynnistynyt - se on ehtinyt kadota kaikkialle elimistöön, myös keskushermostoon.
