IDSA:N HOITOSUOSITUKSET VASTATUULESSA EU:SSA

Amerikan infektiolääkäreiden yhdistyksen laatimat borrelioosin hoitosuositukset ovat saaneet englantilaisilta (Lyme disease action) ja saksalaisilta (The German Society of Lyme Borreliosis) jyrkän kielteisen vastaanoton.

Saksalaiset eivät hyväksy IDSA:n hoitosuositusten käyttöönottoa Saksassa. He perustelevat näkemystään mm. sillä, että borrelioositestit eivät ole luotettavia koska niiden herkkyys on alhainen, borreliabakteeri on erittäin selviytymiskykyinen ja tauti on vakava. Englantilaisten kannanotossa huomautettiin, että hoitosuositusten käyttöönotto johtaa taudin alidiagnosointiin ja riittämättömään hoitoon jne.

The German Society of Lyme Borreliosis submitted its objections to the IDSA Lyme disease review panel. The society protested the application of the IDSA guidelines in Germany, emphasizing the poor lab test sensitivity, persistence of the organism, and seriousness of the illness. Full story

The UK Says No to IDSA Lyme Guidelines

Lyme Disease Action (in the UK) filed a submission with the IDSA contesting the IDSA 2006 Lyme disease guidelines. The submission points out that the presentation of Lyme disease in the UK may be different than the presentation in the UK, and the application of the guidelines in the UK lead to under-diagnosis and under-treatment of patients with Lyme disease.
