Yhä useammin kuule myös suomalaisten borrelioiden sairastavan (ainakin vasta-aineet koholla) mykoplasmainfektiota. Seuraavassa artikkelissa puhutaan mm. mykoplasman hoidosta - antibiootteja 2 vuotta! Tulokset ovat olleet hyvät tämän lääkärin mukaan.

68.7% of CFS Patients Infected With Mycoplasma
----------------------------------------------
Dr. De Meirleir says that he can predict when a patient is infected with mycoplasma fermentans even before he performs blood tests. His predictions are based on patient examinations and symptom history, such as weight gain, bleeding gums, TMJ, and drenching night sweats. He also found that patients infected with M. fermentans suffer from hypoglycemia within forty-five minutes after eating, suggesting that patients would do better with small, frequent meals.
In a study with CFS patients, Dr. De Meirleir found that 68.7% were infected with mycoplasma, versus one out of thirty in the normal population. The most common species found was M. hominis, which he has had difficulty treating. The next most common species found was M. fermentans. There was a much smaller percentage found of various other mycoplasma species. There was a significant correlation between a higher RNase ratio in patients with mycoplasma infection, which decreased after treatment with antibiotics. He uses a new antibiotic, Gemifloxacin,
for treating M. fermentans.
Antibiotics & Ampligen
----------------------------------------------
Generally, he treats mycoplasma infections with straight antibiotics for the first six months, then Ampligen and antibiotics for twelve months, then maintenance dosages of antibiotics for six more months. After stopping the antibiotics completely, he claims that his patients do not relapse, which he has currently observed for fifteen months.
