Pitkäaikainen antibioottihoito - mykoplasmoilla ei ole solun seinää, siksi kefalosporiinit eivät käy sen hoitoon (aivan kuten kystamuotoiset borreliabakteerit).

Note, however, that mycoplasmas are unique bacteria in that they never ever have a cell wall at any stage of their life cycle. Therefore, the "cell wall inhibiting" families of antibiotics (such as the penicillin family or the cephalosporin family) do not have any effect on mycoplasmas. Instead, one must use the "protein systhesis inhibiting" antibiotics -- such as the tetracycline family or the macrolide family.
