The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that UNDER OUR SKIN was selected as one of the 15 finalists competing for ?Best Documentary Feature? in the 82nd Academy Awards®.
Unfolding like a real-life thriller, UNDER OUR SKIN exposes the hidden epidemic of Lyme disease and reveals how our corrupt medical system is failing to address one of the most serious illnesses of our time. Open Eye Pictures is thrilled that the Academy has honored the courageous Lyme patients and physicians whose stories are told in this film. And we hope that this nomination will help spread awareness about this devastating disease and serve as a catalyst for fixing our country?s broken health care system.
The Documentary Branch Screening Academy Committee viewed all eighty-nine qualifying documentaries during the preliminary round of voting. Academy members will now select five nominees from among the 15 titles on the shortlist, and Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
BORRELIOOSIELOKUVA EHDOLLA OSCAR-PALKINNON SAAJAKSI!
Valvojat: Jatta1001, Borrelioosiyhdistys, Bb
Alla UOS-tiedotteen mukana tulleita muita uutisia kuten lastenlääkäri Ray Jonesin tukikampanja.
People Magazine -julkaisu on ottanut borrelioosielokuvan trailerin esitettäväksi "mainospylväisiinsä" ja takseihin. Trailerista esitetään 30 sekunnin pätkä.

RALLY IN SUPPORT OF UOS' DR. JONES & PHYSICIANS' FREEDOM
dr_jones_and_marlena.jpg
Leading Lyme pediatrician Dr. Charles Ray Jones, whose court battles were featured in UNDER OUR SKIN, is still in court fighting back charges against him for his treatment of children with Lyme disease. Due to a second set of charges, a hearing has been scheduled for February 16th at the Connecticut Department of Public Health in Hartford, CT. Activists have scheduled a same-day rally outside the building. Dr. Jones has already faced medical board charges and had sanctions and fines levied against him. The Connecticut DPH panel is recommending further sanctions, including more fines and probation. If Dr. Jones loses his ability to treat, it would further jeopardize all Lyme literate physicians? freedom and will negatively impact the future of the hundreds of children in Dr. Jones' care. Organizers of the event are looking for a strong show of support for the doctor who has cared for and saved so many of their children.
