Potilaat ovat oireilleet vähintään vuoden eivätkä he useimmiten muista nähneensä punkinpuremaa. Parhaillaan he tutkivat borrelioosin tarttumista ihmiseltä ihmiselle. He ovat havainneet borrelioosia sairastavilla alhaisia IgG 1 ja 3 arvoja. He ovat saaneet hyviä tuloksia 6 g immunoglobuliiniannoksilla (tiputus kestää noin 90 min). Heidän kokemustensa mukaan immunoglobuliini on erittäin tehokasta borrelioosin aiheuttamien tulehdusten hoitoon. Se ei kuitenkaan paranna tautia. Suomessa immunoglobuliinia on annettu toisinaan esim 30 g 3 vk:n välein. Texasissa potilaille on annettu 6 g 6 vk:n välein. Heidän potilaansa ovat sairastuneet suuremmilla annoksilla.

Huom! Muistin juuri, että kaikki joiden perheessä useammilla perheenjäsenillä esiintyy borrelioosia, vastatkaa ihmeessä kyselytutkimukseeni!! Muutkin vastaukset ovat edelleen tervetulleita!

PS. Sari - Onko kortisonista ollut apua?
PPS. Onko kukaan kysellyt immunoglobuliinihoitojen tai granulosyyttikasvutekijähoidon mahdollisuudesta omalla kohdallaan?
PPPS.

"......We are now approaching a total of 1200 Borrelia-infected patients (all but 3 chronically) since the year 2000 in tow parts of Texas, USA. We find a mixture of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, garinii, and afzelii, we think confirming our human-to-human transfer theory. On initial evaluation, we have tested all prior to first treatment for IgG Total count and subclasses. We find consistently low ONLY IgG Subclasses 1 and 3. These recover to normal levels with effective treatment. We do find that the Borrelia is continually contacting Macrophages and Dendritic cells, and by activating TLR-4 and -2, via NF-kappa beta, activates IL-5 and IL-12 that produce excessive amounts immunoglobulins. Other papers suggest SC-1 and SC-3 are the primary immunoglobulins against Borrelia, which we interpret as the reason they are low. In the context of the paper you cite, I must admit we do not find that interferon gamma is of any significance with what you call "late Lyme disease". Further, however, all we see are patients who have been symptomatic for a year at least, and have no memory of tick bite. Thus, if the subjects of the Swedish paper are all all recently infected via zoonotic transfer, we may be seeing yet another large difference between those infected by vector transfer and those infected by inter-human transfer. It was confusing to us until we went back to the basic published literature and eventually divided these into two conceptually framed diseases. Only then did we begin to make faster treatment progress, and what we saw on exam and testing make sense. Also, IVIG acts as a very useful and effective anti-inflammatory agent...the primary effect generated by the presence of the Borrelia. A simple 6 gram bottle given IV over 90 minutes, drops many symptoms in most of our patients within an hour and can last up to 6 weeks. It affects symptoms only, and is not curative in the least. 30 grams only makes our patients sicker. I'll send later our summary paper so you'll know the perspective I speak from, which in no way, however, necessarily negates the Swedish paper. (When I arrive back in Texas next week.) ....."
